Mad river valley, vermont

The Mad River Valley is the quintessential destination for admiring the changing leaves if you are lucky enough to visit in the fall. Picturesque vistas, rolling hills and breathtaking scenery at every turn, there's a lot to love about this charming corner of the world. With several sleepy tows dotted across the valley, there is plenty to do while also soaking up that feeling of getting away from it all.  Vermont is a new favorite spot of mine. I can't wait to go back!

Pack... The weather varies dramatically depending on the time of year. I visited in the fall while there was also a bizarre heat wave hitting the region. Definitely bring clothes to hike in, maybe a bathing suit if you are going to explore some of the local swimming holes, and layers. It definitely cools down in the evenings and a cozy scarf or sweater will be a welcome option.

Sleep... For a romantic weekend, book a room at the Pitcher Inn in Warren. This is on my list for our next trip. This time we rented a house with friends with a big deck and open kitchen that was perfect for

Bring home... Maple Syrup. I'm obsessed and making pancakes with mine at every opportunity.

Grab a coffee and wander through the Saturday morning farmers market. I always love exploring farmers markets in new places.
